Outreach Worker - Louisville, KY
TITLE: Outreach Worker
REPORTS TO: Project Manager
LOCATION: Louisville, KY
BACKGROUND: USI is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1978. USI builds the social services infrastructure for residents of redeveloping urban core communities. USI understands that the physical revitalization of housing by itself is not sufficient to create communities which produce social and economic integration. In order to create successful and thriving mixed-income developments, a network of community support systems must be planned and implemented concurrent with the development of new housing. These supportive services offer residents the opportunities to succeed and thrive in mixed-income communities.
JOB SUMMARY:
The outreach worker will be a part time Urban Strategies employee who will be responsible for outreach to educate Beecher Terrace residents about the services available to them through case management and the Choice Neighborhood’s People Program. The outreach workers will provide feedback to the CNI People team regarding program development, implementation and evaluation. Their feedback will inform continuous quality monitoring of the program and adjustments to improve on results.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform outreach efforts by educating Beecher Terrace residents about case management, housing relocation, employment, and health opportunities.
- Assist program staff with planning effective program incentives.
- Identify residents who are losing interest and recommend strategies to encourage re-engagement.
- Help program staff identify participants who are having difficulties which might require additional case management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have strong working knowledge of the needs of families living in Beecher Terrace.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to follow directions and produce necessary case documentation.
- Must have good verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
- Must have computer skills.

Compliance Coordinator - St. Louis
TITLE: Compliance Coordinator PART-TIME
REPORTS TO: TBD
LOCATION: St. Louis, Missouri
STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
SUPERVISION: NONE
BACKGROUND: For nearly 40 years, USI has assisted residents and community stakeholders to design and implement a wide range of transformative projects in distressed U.S. communities. Our goal is to ensure that our all of families are stable and thriving.
JOB SUMMARY: The Compliance Coordinator is a part-time administrative assistant employed to assist USI in gathering and maintaining documentation necessary for federal grant compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gathering timesheets for staff and ensuring timesheets are accurate and in compliance with federal grant requirements.
- Gathering and coordinating the submission of appropriate documentation for federal grant invoices, such as receipts, meeting notes, and payroll documentation.
- Provide general administrative support to the Director of Compliance and Legal Affairs and the Senior Staff Accountant on federal grant awards.
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Take and deliver detailed messages
- Sorting and answering emails
- Maintain filing system, organizing and archiving files
- Operate office machinery such as fax machines, copy machines, scanners and printers
- Act as a point of contact for internal and external clients
- Prepare outgoing mail and creating or proofreading documents, and other reception-related activities
- Data entry, typing letters, reports and entering numerical data with the use of Microsoft Office systems
- Assist executive team staff in reconciling and submitting monthly expense reports
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
- Promptly responding to problems and inquiries that fall within the responsibilities described above
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or experience required:
- High School Degree Required
- Experienced in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to work with diverse ethnic, racial, and social populations
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to maintain accurate records and attention to detail
- Dependable and punctual
- Display flexibility and initiative
- Ability to work days and/or evenings
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Professional in appearance , attitude and demeanor at all times when representing the organization
Skills and/or Competencies Required:
- Strong preference for experience with federal grants, particularly CDBG and Choice Neighborhoods grants
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
- A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both participants and fellow employees.
- Must excel in fast-paced, multi-task, environment
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse persons and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
- The ability to work independently and with initiative, combined with skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve shared goals.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (Advanced MS Excel), other commonly used software.
