Under the People component – USI provided case management and workforce programming, and developed high impact partners around quality early childhood education, resident based safety initiatives, educational programming for children and youth, health services, and other supportive programming for 551 public housing households involuntarily displaced throughout Louisiana and the country due to Hurricane Katrina, and new residents at the revitalized site. USI also monitored the Section 3 effort and developed a model job readiness and training program that linked residents to Section 3 employment. USI coordinated partnerships with over 50 faith- and community-based organizations including YMCA, Youth Empowerment Project, Home Builders Institute, Good Work Network, KIPP New Orleans and Catholic Charities, recorded in MOUs and monthly CSS meetings. USI leveraged over $40 million in public and private funds.
