About the Neighborhood
Propelling Educational Success:
All children and youth in Tidewater Gardens are ready for school, thrive in and out of school, graduate from high school, and are prepared for college, career, and life. Maintaining higher rates of enrollment in early learning programs while increasing on-time graduation. 83% of youth graduated on time.
Improving Health & Wellness:
All children and adults living in Tidewater Gardens, before and after redevelopment, are mentally and physically healthy. Maintaining high rates of health insurance and connection to medical homes while increasing the percentage of households accessing services to manage chronic health conditions.
Moving Families to Economic Self-Sufficiency:
All households in Tidewater Gardens, before and after redevelopment, are economically independent.
Annual income from employment is $19,891, this is a 67% increase since baseline.
Engaging Families in Family Support:
Housing is the foundation upon which all other services are based. People FirstUSI assists families with the process of relocation but also with accessing a higher quality of life that comes with safe, quality, affordable housing. People FirstUSI works holistically to address the challenges that are impacting each individualized household.
574 (84%) of households are actively engaged with USI. This is a 25% increase from year 1. People First Empowered by USI assisted 143 or 92% of the 156 families who relocated from Tidewater Gardens and assisted 85% of families in moving to neighborhoods with <40% poverty rate.
