
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI JANUARY 31, 2022 | Urban Strategies, Inc. (USI) has promoted Ebonie Reed to Vice President of Compliance and Legal Affairs. In her new role, she leads and is responsible for ensuring that the organization follows federal, local and/or private grant requirements, and serves as the primary source of legal counsel for the organization. Ebonie brings expertise in compliance capacity, managing teams and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion strategies.
Prior to her promotion, Ebonie served as director of compliance and legal affairs for USI. She was also instrumental in helping USI secure its Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certification.
Before joining USI, Ebonie was a portfolio manager and in-house counsel at Justine Petersen, a community economic development attorney for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, and adjunct faculty for Washington University in St. Louis and Ranken Technical College where she taught entrepreneurship, small business management and negotiation.
Ebonie obtained her Bachelor’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri St. Louis and her J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. She also has a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from eCornell.
